Miner Harry Warden went on a murderous many years ago on Valentine’s Day, and then myseriously disappeared. Now, a massacre has taken place at the local hospital resembling Warden’s kills…as you retrace steps back to the old mines, you ask yourself…Harry can’t be back, can he?

Based around the 2009 film (itself a remake of the 1981 film), My Bloody Valentine follows the story of the 2009 film closely. Being a classic, gorey slasher horror film, the maze is filled with blood and intense moments.

Making use of the same containers and route as Experiment 10, the maze starts off in the hospital from the film, which is covered in blood. From here, guests reach the mines, and are sent down one of two paths. This takes you past the old ‘isolation chambers’ from Experiment 10, but does not make use of them (a creative choice to avoid comparisons). This still results either in going through a crawl tunnel (where you go up and down), or through a corridor of body bags.

From here, the maze takes you through many claustrophic scenes, where actors get up into your personal space, yet still appear out of nowhere thanks to the atmospheric lighting. The maze features many ‘Harry Warden’ characters, dressed in full, and imposing, miner costumes, making it feel like he is chasing you.

The finale leaves you alone with Harry Warden, as he chases you out with his pick-axe. This was a bit hit-and-miss, as sometimes it felt like you had already experienced that earlier in the maze, whereas other times it would leave whole groups clamouring for the exit.

Perhaps the biggest issue for My Bloody Valentine is its length. Taking place in a handful of shipping containers, which all featuring narrow, linear scenes, it doesn’t take long to walk through. The maze compensates for this by being hard-hitting and fast-paced, but in comparison to other mazes, can still feel quick.

For 2015, the maze moved from the Arena (which was removed and turned into Derren Brown’s Ghost Train) and to the spot in Lost City next to Rush. However, due to space reasons, and the container receiving some damage in storing, the first container did not appear. This featured the hospital scene, and as such, meant the maze started with the divide into the mines.
