Project Pivot Approved
Following a longer-than-anticipated approval period, plans to redevelop Amity Beach into a Stage and open space area have been approved.
On 22nd May 2025, Runnymede Borough Council approved plans for Project Pivot. The plans include a small, permanent stage area at the far side of what is currently Amity Beach (close to Depth Charge’s entrance), F&B kiosks, seating and opening up the space further for guests to walk around.
Plans were originally submitted in November 2024, and it was expected the development would be approved quickly and the park would be able to open the stage area for the 2025. Unfortunately, the plans required revisions, further information and more discussion than anticipated, hence why the plans have only been approved now.
The park did some early prep work to the Beach in late 2025, but paused then when it was clear that approval was taking longer than planned. No work has happened on the larger side of the Beach since, although the smaller side has been revamped so it could open, which it did on 24th May.
It is not clear when work will start or when the area and stage will open now. As is the norm for approved applications, the park have 3 years to start the work, although we expect the park will want to do this sooner. With Thorpe Park only hosting Fright Nights as a special event this year, it is possible they will want the area to be ready by then, although how realistic that is remains unclear. We do expect that the park would want the area and stage to be ready for the 2026 season however.
