The Spirit of Amity, a fishing vessel set sail 50 years ago. Legend says the Captain’s daughter fell in love with a crewmember, before fate cruelly threw them overboard, leaving a curse on the ship. For the first time since, the ship has returned, washed ashore onto Amity Beach…
The Curse opened in 2008, and was the park’s second maze to be featured in a marquee tent. Despite featuring a detailed lore, the tent remained unthemed, which was questioned by many at the time. However, inside, The Curse was extremely well themed – although the maze’s lighting sometimes let this down.
The maze was standard for its time; a single-route, conga-line experience. Guests would explore various parts of the ship, and encounter demented crew members, who were overcome by the curse. It was a fast-paced, full-on experience.
The maze extended the line up at Fright Nights to 4 mazes, but each of the other mazes were also single-route, conga-line experiences. This meant it took time for The Curse to find its footing and place within the line up. However, over time, it did find its place quite securely!
