Detonator, a Fabbri Mega Drop was one of three new rides for the 2001 season. Initially it seems small, especially when compared with Stealth, but first impressions can be deceptive!

Once on ride, it takes what seems to be an eternity to reach the summit, from which the view is astounding. Alas, you are not given long to enjoy it, for within the next 5 seconds you will begin your descent. Assisted by pneumatic rams at the top of the tower you detach from the lift car and hurtle towards terra firma, your breath taken away by the shear speed of the drop. Without a doubt, one of if not the most intense rides at Thorpe Park, even if it petrifies you, a must do!
